Can I view a 4XEM MPEG4 IP camera using FireFox?
No. 4XEM MPEG4 cameras use ActiveX to view the video. Firefox does not support ActiveX so it is not possible to view 4XEM MPEG4 cameras with FireFox, Netscape, Opera and Mozilla.
Windows XP Service Pack 2 does not let me install ActiveX file (VatDec.cab). Which settings should I change to install it?
If you cannot see the video produced by the IP Network camera on the camera’s homepage then you will need to check the following security settings. In an open Internet Explorer Web Browser you will need to go into the “Tools” menu found at the top. Now click on “Internet Options”. Next select the “Security” tab and with “Internet” selected click on “Custom Level”. This will bring up a window listing the security settings for your web browser when browsing the internet. You will need to ensure that that following are set to “Prompt”:
- Download Signed ActiveX Controls
- Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls
- Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins
Once these three options are set to “Prompt” you will need to click on “OK”. Now repeat the process and for “Local Intranet”. This is found in the same window as when you selected “Internet”.
